Butte College hosted its annual Transfer Day on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Campus Center on the Main Campus in Oroville. The event, organized by the Transfer Counseling Center, provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore their transfer options and connect with representatives from various four-year universities.
This year’s event saw participation from representatives of 20 colleges and universities, including public, private, in-state, and out-of-state institutions. Chico State was well-represented, sending staff from more than 10 of its programs.
Transfer Day proved to be a vital resource for Butte College students and local high school students interested in pursuing higher education. Approximately 350 high school students attended the event, along with hundreds of current Butte College students. Butte College faculty and staff were on-site to offer guidance on the college’s 32 Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) programs. These ADT programs guarantee admission to the CSU system, providing students with a cost-effective pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree by starting their education at Butte College before transferring to a four-year institution.
According to Transfer Center Coordinator Steve St. Cin, events like Transfer Day are crucial to maintaining Butte College’s strong transfer culture. In the previous year, the college transferred more than 750 students to four-year colleges, including over 500 students to Chico State and nearly 50 to the University of California.
Transfer Day was free and open to all students, staff, and community members who were interested in learning more about transfer opportunities.
